At age two, I created my first masterpiece which was a pencil scribble all over my great grandmother's wall. The experience delighted me. My mom, not so much. Born to a crazy Italian family in Northern New Jersey, I moved to the wild west right after high school to pursue college. I graduated with a Fine Arts degree from Arizona State University where I studied the technical fundamentals of painting and drawing. Years later, I discovered the healing potential of the creative process when painting became my catalyst in rising above dark and heavy moments. Profound positive shifts resulted when I surrendered the heaviness of divorce, bankruptcy, anxiety and depression to my creative process. Painting became my healing modality and my internal transcendence unfolded in my art. Although my pencil mural at age two was pivotal, it was my inner liberation in my thirties that molded my artistic style and unveiled my life purpose.
THE ART
Raw brushstrokes and rich texture are layered to create mystery and depth. Bold use of colors spring from the canvas atoning viewers toward an inner reverie. Inspired by my innate expression, emotional landscapes and atmospheric blocks of color have become signatures of my personal style. To me, the creative process is an act of alchemy in pursuit of a personal journey. A journey that honors the present moment while looking forward to manifesting one's true potential. Horizons have become a symbol of this journey and reveal themselves conceptually and artistically in my compositions. Just like where the Earth meets the sky, the subtle lines or breaks in each painting’s design are symbols of a journey toward my perceived place where flesh meets spirit, where present meets future and where visions meet their destiny.
ARTIST STATEMENT
"My artist statement is simple...do what you love. Many people take great comfort in doing what they love. When people do what they love, they not only connect to themselves but they connect to something greater than us all. Painting embodies this connection for me. Doing what I love directs me to a place of refuge, tranquility, and comfort. My creative process turns unsettled emotions into ones of serenity. Painting is my personal portal allowing intangible parts of me to reveal themselves in form and color. Painting becomes the common denominator to where I find myself in the present moment and where I want to go emotionally, spiritually and physically. My biggest desire is that this gift of artistic alchemy transcends the canvas spiraling into the souls of art viewers. I smile at the thought of my artwork emanating positive vibrations in each home it claims. Most of all, I hope my art empowers viewers to do what they love."
